Eight things you didn’t know about Bowcliffe Hall

William Robinson, a cotton spinner from Manchester, began construction of Bowcliffe Hall in 1805. Later, Robinson sold the property for £2,000 to John Smyth, who finished the estate. Since then, the Hall has amassed a rich history, passing through numerous families, businesses and notable individual’s hands – including the great aviation pioneer Robert Blackburn.

Private Bentley Auction at Bowcliffe Hall

At the end of last year, a selection of Bentley’s magnificent cars rolled up Bowcliffe’s gravel drive and were parked around the estate as part of a Private Bentley Auction. Restoring the Bowcliffe Hall Ballroom – Part One

Restoration has officially begun on the original Bowcliffe Hall ballroom.
This magnificent room, which would have been the hub for grandiose balls, social gatherings and parties, is brimming with beautiful original features and has an imposing, soaring ceiling. Following successful restoration of numerous other significant rooms within Bowcliffe Hall including the Morning Room and Bowcliffe Room, it was decided that the Ballroom also deserved some special attention.

Wendy & Steve’s Wedding at Bowcliffe Hall – as featured on Brides Up North

Back in August 2015, a wonderful couple named Wendy & Steve chose Bowcliffe Hall as the place they wanted to say ‘I do’. And what a wedding day it turned out to be.

Bowcliffe doesn’t have specific wedding packages, choosing instead to work with each couple to create a completely bespoke day. With a limited number of weddings throughout the year, Wendy and Steve were given complete creative license for their special day, with the help and support of Bowcliffe’s Director of Events, Michael Gledhill.
