Event: Cheese Appreciation Dinner, Friday 23rd February 2018

Simon Crannage Cheese Dinner

Our Director of Excellence at Bowcliffe, Simon Crannage, is putting his chef whites back on and returning to the kitchen for a one-off, marvellous event celebrating an array of divine, artisanal cheeses. For those of you who have a healthy preoccupation with cheese (that’s all of us, surely?) – this four-course feast is an absolute must for your calendar. As you all know, there really is no such thing as too much cheese.

You’ll be in superb hands as Simon – previously Executive Chef of Swinton Park and the man responsible for their 3 AA Rosette restaurant as well as winner of the Yorkshire Life Chef of the Year – delivers an incredible menu inspired by his favourite cheeses, conjuring up dishes that focus on delivering his personal fromage heroes in a way that’s very different to the norm. Each cheese used in Simon’s menu comes directly from wonderful, small-batch makers. These makers are obsessive over cheese, the same way vineyards are about their wines – so you can only imagine the taste! Oh, and for those of you who simply couldn’t imagine rounding off a meal (even one as cheese-obsessed as this) without a traditional cheeseboard, you’ll be happy to hear that plates of yet more delicious cheese will be served as a final flourish. Every meticulous detail of the produce used in this menu has been considered; with venison delivered directly from our own Laudale Estate, and sustainable scallops caught off the Isle of Skye by a diver who hand measures the size of each one to check they’re just right.

Each of the four courses will be paired with a hand-selected tipple to complement your dish including wine, beer, cider and port.
