UPDATE: THIS MEMBERS EVENING IS NOW FULLY BOOKED. Details of the next evening will be disclosed as soon as they are confirmed.

Never before have we been so sure a members evening will be oversubscribed!

On Thursday 28th September 2017, we have the pleasure of welcoming designer and sculptor Tim Potts to Bowcliffe Hall to speak as part of our highly popular Drivers’ Club Members Evenings.

Tim’s career as a designer and sculptor has led him to work with many notable clients – perhaps the most famous being Bentley – where he worked as a member of the modelling team in the styling studio, a position that allowed him to combine his love of automotive design with sculpture. Whilst working with Bentley, Tim had the opportunity to redesign the Bentley Flying B emblem – a highlight of his association with the iconic company.

The new emblem led to the production of several Bentley-inspired bronze sculptures, the first of which was a cast of the over-scale Maquette for the Flying B, created as part of the design process. This piece, ‘The Flying B Maquette’, can be seen in the ‘living room’ at the Bentley factory.

As many of you will know, vintage Bentley’s are one of Bowcliffe custodian, Jonathan Turner’s greatest passions. As such, the Driver’s Club is a shrine of important Bentley original artwork, design and sculpture. Most recently, the new ‘Blower Chairs’ arrived – named after one of Bentley’s most famous cars, ‘the Blower’. The final flourish on each of the Blower Chairs is a brass plaque engraved with the name of a Bentley Boy driver, or someone associated with their success.

The evening is an absolute must for any members’ with an interest in design, sculpture and, of course, motoring. It will be a unique opportunity to hear from someone who has been an influence on one of the world’s most renowned brands.

As is always the case, executive chef Andy Lawson and the Drivers’ Club team will be serving food and the bar will be open for wine, spirits and soft drinks.
